"Congress United Against Clemens"

It's good to know that Democrats and Republicans can unite behind the important things

Sports Illustrated Article here...

Jon Stewart also had a great time making fun of the hearing. It's a bit long and drawn out, but the title of the segment was great "It's the Best Damn Sports Hearing." and then he commented on the -at the time- partisan sniping at/protection of Clemens and said that Clemens is an "overgrown, baseball-obsessed, Texas man-child who cannot take any responsibility for his actions...oh my God! They think he's the president! That's why the Republicans are on his side."

Colbert's clip is shorter. "I got to hand it to the Congressional Democrats...they may not be able to do anything about the war, or torture, or domestic spying, but they can tear into a baseball player like a piranha stripping a cow."

Speaking of the President and baseball, he just honored the Red Sox at the White House and had a great quote. "We welcome Daisuke [pitcher originally from Japan] here to the South Lawn. His press corps is bigger than mine, and we both have trouble answering questions in English."

Weird music that get stuck in your heard...

I was standing in line for a cookie at the Tattered Cover today and was humming to myself "On the bed, on the floor, on a towel by the door, in the tub, in the car, up against the mini-bar..."

If you haven't watched the Sarah Silverman and Matt Damon Video, here it is.

And then there is the Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Affleck response. I loved all the cameos and the most hilarious one has to be Josh Groban cutting into the pseudo-"We are the World" chorus with the piano, the spotlight, and his pop-operatic voice.

Maybe if Mike Garcia put his proposition into song, he would have been an youtube sensation instead...

"Children" of Sex & the City

EW had an interesting article about finding the "next Sex and the City." I've tried watching both Cashmere Mafia and Lipstick Jungle online. And maybe it's because I was doing things while it was playing in the background, but I'm not fond of either. Cashmere Mafia bored me. I was somewhat enjoying Lipstick Jungle until they had a scene where the three of them were trying perfume that was just way too direct a knockoff of Sex and the City that I had to turn it off.

It's funny because it took me a while to warm up to Sex and the City. It took getting the dvd on netflix and watching many episodes in one breath. Especially because I wasn't really into clothes or had really close girlfriends or that into brunch. My how things have changed...

I can't wait to see the movie, but sometimes slightly loose ends are more satisfying than something that's too neat and pat.

The EW article also posed an interesting question. They said '[Sex] gave voice to a group of people — single women in their 30s. The question is, Who is the next group who hasn't had a voice yet?"
