Vending Machine? Salon?

I was walking around National Taiwan University and came across this:

Click on the link to scroll down and look at the pictures. For $3 you can get a haircut in 10 minutes. You buy a ticket from the machine and go in when your number is called. They have single-use towels and combs and use infra-red or something to kill the germs. Meanwhile, doesn't it look like the salons is a vending machine that will unlock when you put your ticket in?

Gleetinis

After a long hiatus, GLEE came back to the airwaves (are they still airwaves now that they're digital?) last week, and in celebration I had a few friends over to watch. On the menu: Gleetinis!

Basically, it's a home made slushie with optional alcohol. Delicious!

The recipe:

1 packet Kool-Aid
3/4 cup sugar (I know, I know...just don't think about it)
2 cups water
4 cups ice
Vodka

Mix Kool-Aid, sugar and water until powder and sugar are dissolved. You can keep this mixture in the fridge until you're ready to serve. When it's drinkin' time, put the Kool-Aid in a blender with the ice and blend until ice is crushed to slushie consistency. Add Vodka to taste/tolerance and serve! (Or, add vodka a glass at a time if you have a mixed group of drinkers/nondrinkers.)

Garnish with a Red Vine, or if you think of a better garnish let me know. :)

A Top Drawer Wager

Many of you probably know by now that Suzaaku and I are big hockey fans. As fate would have it, our respective favorite teams (for Nancy, the awesome COLORADO AVALANCHE!!, for Suzaaku, the adequate San Jose Fish...er, Sharks) are locked in battle in the first round of the NHL playoffs!

In the spirit of fun and friendly competition, we've settled on a wager over the outcome of the series: When the Avs win, Suzaaku will send me a loaf of delicious sourdough bread from Boudin Bakery in San Francisco. If hell freezes over - uh, sorry, I mean - if the Sharks miraculously win, I will send Suzaaku a tasty treat from Denver's D Bar.

So far, it's looking good for the good guys - the Avs are up 1-0 in the series! But we still have a long way to go.

GO AVS!
