How Not to Owe a Billion $$$ to the IRS

Our as yet unnamed friend found a brilliant page on the IRS website for those who have multiple paychecks or other oddities about their pay. It calculates what you should have withheld from your paycheck.

It's actually incredibly surprising how brilliant it is, given that it's brought to us by the Internal Revenue Service.

Spa Night (TM) and Mexican Chopped Salad Recipe

So tonight some fabulous women are coming over for Spa Night. It'll be fun to sample all the pampering products!. Plus good food, cake and hopefully some wine and funny stories. Nancy Drew and I and perhaps others will get out some product reviews after Spa Night (TM)

Here is my idea for our dinner recipe:
Mexican Chopped Salad
1 head romaine lettuce
1 head red leaf lettuce
1 can black beans
1 small can corn
2 carrots
2 tomatoes
1 small bunch green onions
1/2 to 1 cup shredded cheese -- ideally a mix of cheddar and monterey jack
1 small cooked beef roast or other cooked meat (chicken, pork, whatever) amounting to 1 lb or so.
Ranch dressing
Green salsa

Chop all the veggies and the meat into about 1 inch bite size pieces -- ala "chopped" salads. Set out the greens and the veggies and other items in individual bowls and allow guests to assemble their own salad to their taste.

I'll let you know how it turns out!

Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time, some friends had fun in a little cowtown about halfway between the left and the right coasts of the great United States of America. They bantered like the Gilmore Girls, they hostessed like Martha Stewart, they feasted like Marie Antoinette, and they also went to the movies and the theater (theatre?) and watched TV and gossipped.

These friends have a lot of interesting tidbits to share:
Recipes for: Oscar parties, Baby showers, Craft circles, Spa nights, and more!
Reviews of: happy hours, ice cream shoppes, coffee lines, bus routes, and more!
How tos for: TV program selection, schedule juggling, thrift store shopping, brake light changing, and more!
Reading lists: books (chicklit, kidlit, leftylit, cooking lit), magazines (Us vs People?), newspapers and more!

So now, the friends need to step in and get started!!
