Oh no!! I love the Cherry Creek TC!! It's hard to imagine that neighborhood without it. :( I can imagine the new location being very cool, though. And it will be good for East Colfax, which is my old 'hood. But MAN, some of my earliest memories of living in Denver are of going to the TC at the holidays and spending hours in the children's section.

My dad discovered the TC just a few weeks after we moved to Denver in '81. He tells this story about how he wanted to buy some books, but didn't have enough cash and had forgotten his checkbook or something. So they let him take the books and they billed him for them later. Crazy.

OK I'm going to try to be open minded about this. Parking in Cherry Creek is a pain in the ass, so perhaps the Colfax location will be more convenient. But I think Cherry Creek will suffer.

I wish that they could have just opened up another store on East Colfax. But I am happy that they are putting a store out there. That's good. Better than their new Highlands Ranch location

I have to say, I've been to the Highlands Ranch location and it's not as bad as I thought. I mean, yes it's in Highlands Ranch (barf-o!) but it's still the Tattered Cover. It even smells like the Tattered Cover. And the suburbanites need good books too.

But the one on East Colfax will undoubtedly be way better than the one in HR.

Overall, I'm deciding to look at this as a good thing. My favorite bookstore in the whole world is doing so well that it is opening new locations! More people can experience TC joy! And now I won't have to hassle with Cherry Creek parking!
