Mayan Coffee Redux
A few weeks ago, we Really Top Drawer gals went to Cancun. It was fabulous. Sparkling water, sandy beaches, swim-up bar, tropical drinks, and the best pals a gal could ask for. One of our great discoveries was Mayan Coffee at a wonderful restaurant called La Habichuela. If you're even in Cancun, you simply must go there.
When I returned, I decided to make it my mission to recreate the Mayan Coffee we fell in love with. Here is a photo-essay of my first (rather successful, if I do say so myself) attempt.
First, the ingredients: good coffee and good liqueur:
Next, flambe the liqueur. It's much more dramatic at La Habichuela, but this being my first attempt I prioritized A. not burning down the house and B. not burning my hands.
Then I poured the liqueur into a mug and added coffee:
A few dollops of ice cream on top:
And I was pretty much back in Cancun. Without the swim-up bar.
I intend to host a Mayan Coffee party in the near future. It's fun to make and extremely tasty. I even bought appropriate glassware today!
